LEBANON, Ohio -- A Warren County judge sentenced a West Chester man to 54 months in prison Thursday for sexual abuse of a minor, Prosecutor David Fornshell announced.

John Hopkins, 61, pleaded guilty in August to three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material.

Hopkins met the 13-year-old victim through the app Grindr in March, according to Fornshell. They met twice in a Lebanon parking lot, where the sexual conduct occurred.

Authorities learned of the crimes when the juvenile's parents found texts between the two and called police, according to Fornshell. A detective played the role of the victim and arranged a meeting at a hotel, where police arrested Hopkins and found nude photos of the juvenile on his phone.

Hopkins is classified as a Tier II sex offender. He will have to register for the next 25 years.
