LEBANON, Ohio – A 17-year-old who shot and wounded his sleeping stepfather has been sentenced as a serious youthful offender, meaning he could face additional time in an adult prison when he turns 21.
The shooter was sentenced to nine years or until he’s 21 in the Department of Youth Services after he admitted wounding his stepfather with an AR-15 in their home last May, according to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.
He also received an adult sentence of 14 years, but he won’t have to serve that if he successfully completes his juvenile sentence.
The shooting happened on May 25 in Franklin Township.
