SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- One teenager was arrested and another was taken to the hospital after the driver of a stolen SUV crashed it into the side of a house Tuesday night, police said.

The chase began when police attempted to pull the SUV over, authorities said.

The 15-year-old driver refused to stop, and the pursuit ended with the stolen vehicle careening into the side of a home near the intersection of Wellspring and Meadowglen drives.

Dawson Wells was asleep at the time, his mother Rhonda said Wednesday night. The force of the impact flung him against the wall and injured his spine, she said; he was taken away from the house by an ambulance from Children's Hospital.

"He keeps crying a lot," she said. "He’s in a lot of pain. There’s a crack somewhere on his spine."

Dawson returned home Wednesday night. Although he was still in pain, his mother said she was relieved the crash hadn't been worse.

"I just gotta thank God that somebody was once again watching over my family," Rhonda Wells said. "You just gotta love your kids every day."
