CINCINNATI -- A scuffle with an "aggressive panhandler" sent two Hamilton County sheriff's deputies to the hospital Monday morning, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Robison.

Deputies responded to reports of an aggressive panhandler outside 800 Broadway Street, a Hamilton County government building, Robison said.

When approached, the panhandler became belligerent and ran away, Robison said. A chase ensued, as well as "some altercations," including wrestling with the panhandler, he said.

Another deputy fell and injured his knee. Robison said both deputies were taken to the hospital "just to be checked out."

The panhandling suspect now has two outstanding warrants for resisting arrest and assault; deputies said he may have drug paraphernalia as well.
