HAMILTON, Ohio – A second woman was sentenced Monday for beating 5-year-old Alexander Stephens to death  in Middletown after the women starved him and he stole food from them, according to court documents.

Rachel Bostian, 29, was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison by Judge Greg Stephens, the Journal-Newsreported.

Rachel Bostian and the boy's mother tied up Alexander for about 22 hours on April 26 and “severely” beat the boy on his head and body, according to prosecutors. Alexander's 6-year-old brother, Damyan, was also tied up with blankets and beaten, but Damyan's injuries were not life-threatening.

Bostian pleaded guilty to murder and two counts of child endangering last month in Butler County Common Pleas Court. She faced a maximum sentence of 23 years to life.

Last month Ramona Bostian, Rachel’s mother, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and was sentenced to three years.

The boy’s mother, Theresa Hawkins-Stephens, 26, also pleaded guilty last month to murder and two counts of child endangering. Her sentencing is scheduled later this month.
