DAYTON, Ohio — A New Lebanon man sat in a jail cell all weekend after he drove his daughter to Dayton, Ohio so she could buy heroin, according to police.
Jerry D. Roberts, 52, and his daughter, Keri Brown, 28, were both arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.
Officers responded to a drug complaint involving the pair who were sitting inside Roberts’ blue Ford Explorer parked near the intersection of Melwood Avenue and West Third Street in Dayton, WHIO reported.
Roberts told police his daughter was a heroin addict and “a problem” and that he drove her from New Lebanon to the North Gettysburg Avenue area in Dayton to buy heroin because she was “becoming ill from the withdrawal,” according to a police report.
When police approached their vehicle, Brown ducked down and tried to hide a syringe. She also told police she swallowed two gel capsules of heroin to conceal them, according to the report.
Brown was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of several felony charges, including drug possession, possession of drug abuse instruments and tempering with evidence. She has since been released.
Roberts was booked on suspicion of permitting drug abuse, a misdemeanor, and remained in jail Sunday night. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
