Police arrest suspect in fatal shooting near Findlay Playground

CINCINNATI -- Police arrested a suspect Friday in the Over-the-Rhine shooting that killed a 37-year-old man Monday morning.

Police arrested Demarco Bates, 18, and charged him with murder in the shooting death of Spencer Cormier.

The shooting took place on East McMicken Avenue near Frintz Street, a block away from Findlay Playground.

Cormier was shot in the abdomen, according to Cincinnati police dispatchers. Cormier was already dead when police arrived on the scene.

East McMicken Avenue was temporarily closed while police investigated.
