CINCINNATI -- A woman is dead following an attack at about 1 a.m. Thursday near Race Street and Pendery, police said.
Witnesses told police they heard a woman screaming in the small alley between Race and Vine streets, and officers on Segways and a motorcycle arrived in seconds. K-9 units unsuccessfully searched the area for a suspect and evidence.
Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Tracy Hawes.
"I know that with the cooperation of some businesses down here, we'll spend a lot of time seeing what we can capture on video, so that will be part of the preliminary and long-term investigation," said Capt. Mike Neville.
