CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati police are investigating a man's death as a homicide after a neighbor found his body Wednesday morning in College Hill.

A woman walking her dog found Jason Earl Finley, 29, dead on Marlowe Avenue near Salvia Avenue. He'd been shot.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots at about 11 p.m. Tuesday but didn't see anything.

"It's disturbing to us that it could happen this close to our church, and not just because it was next to our church, but in fact that it happens in our community," said Gene Ellington, pastor of Consolation Baptist Church.

Police said they believe Finley had been homeless. His only listed address was at the Cincinnati Homeless Coalition Downtown.

"I'm really sad this happened," nearby resident Edward Hausfield said. "It doesn't reflect well on the neighborhood, but it's also a personal tragedy for the man and his family, certainly."

Anyone with information about Finley's death is asked to call the Cincinnati Police Department's Criminal Investigation Section at 352-3542 or Crimestoppers at 352-3040, or text "CINTIP" plus the message to CRIMES (274637).

WCPO will update this story as more information becomes available.
