A former Mason High School student and football star will go to prison for three to 15 years, a judge in Kalamazoo decided Monday.

Bryson White, 19, pleaded guilty to armed robbery. White and Western Michigan University teammate Ronald George were accused of robbing a woman near campus in August 2016.

George, of Pittsburgh, received a shorter sentence: 32 months to 10 years in prison.

White apologized Monday in court, saying he wished he would have made a better decision and "hung around better people."

The robbery happened after authorities say the young men made plans to smoke marijuana with the woman. Cash, marijuana and a speaker were taken from her apartment.

The two were dismissed from the team following their arrests.

White played running back for the Comets and graduated in the spring of 2016
