CINCINNATI — A judge on Wednesday issued a $2 million bond for the man charged in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in Mount Airy.

Delrico Peoples, 22, faces a murder charge in connection to the death of Brandon Phoenix. Authorities found the 19-year-old shot to death at a Colerain Avenue bus stop on June 5.

Judge Josh Berkowitz denied a request for a lower bond.

“The nature of the allegations, being that a completely innocent bystander was shot and killed at 1:30 in the afternoon while sitting at a bus stop on Colerain Avenue … it doesn’t get more serious nor more shocking," Berkowitz said.

According to investigators, Phoenix was not the intended target of the shooting that day. He had been waiting for the bus that would take him to work when a stray bullet fatally struck him.

Peoples is scheduled to appear before a grand jury on Aug. 2.
