CINCINNATI -- A Dayton, Ohio man is charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter in connection with a crash that pinned a man against a building, killing him.

Magambo Zackarie, 39, is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday morning in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

According to a Cincinnati police affidavit, Zackarie ran a red light at Queen City and Harrison avenues in South Fairmount on June 29. His minivan hit a car, went onto the sidewalk and hit Earl Howard Jr. and Wendell Allen Reed.

Howard, 63, said he tried to push Reed out of the way. He said the minivan knocked him off his feet, but it pinned Reed against a building.

"He got pinned against the wall with his foot turned backward," Howard said in June.

Reed died at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police said.

Howard suffered a leg injury -- "I punctured a vein or something," he said. Firefighters tended to him at the scene after he declined to be transported.
