CINCINNATI – A grand jury indicted a woman accused of hitting a girl with a car and driving off.

Police said Ruby Estepp, 36, hit 11-year-old London Smith, who was crossing in the crosswalk at the intersection of Glenway and Winfield avenues. Estepp didn’t stop, they said.

Smith suffered a broken bone in her face, abrasions and a torn ligament.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Estepp on charges of driving under suspension, failure to stop after an accident and aggravated vehicular assault Wednesday.

Earlier, deputies said Estepp was released from jail because jail staff “had no knowledge of the details of the case.” She then failed to show up for a court appearance, but was arrested again within days.
