FAIRFAX, Ohio -- A man driving a vehicle reported stolen in Lexington, Kentucky ran from a police officer after a short chase on Interstate 71 early Tuesday morning, according to the Fairfax Police Department.

An officer stopped Clarence Mikhail Oneil Jones on Red Bank Road at about 5 a.m., a news release from the department said. The officer was responding to a call about a man trying to push a full cart of merchandise outside a Wal-Mart store, and a Cincinnati officer saw him get into a black SUV.

But during the subsequent traffic stop, the department said, Jones wouldn't get out of the vehicle and instead drove off, heading north on I-71 and eventually crashing into a wall on the Kenwood Road exit.

Jones ran off and was last seen going into some woods, the department said.

The Fairfax Police Department said Jones would face charges of receiving stolen property of a motor vehicle, failure to comply with a police officer and fictitious plates.

Anyone who sees Jones should call the Fairfax Police Department at 513-271-7250 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
