LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. -- Authorities arrested a former Dearborn County jail officer Wednesday who is accused of performing sex acts with an inmate.

Aaron Schaaf, 24, is facing three counts of sexual misconduct and one count of official misconduct, Prosecuting Attorney Lynn Deddens announced.

A female inmate at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center reported to a jailer that she and Schaaf performed the sex acts together while she was incarcerated, between Oct. 20 and 26, according to Deddens.

Indiana State Police investigated the allegation.

It wasn't immediately clear if Schaaf was fired or he resigned, but Deddens said he was no longer a jail officer.

If convicted, Schaaf faces one-six years for each of the sexual misconduct charges and six to 30 months for the official misconduct charge.

An initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Dearborn Circuit Court.
