Ohio Amber Alert canceled after abducted 1-year-old boy found

AKRON, Ohio -- Akron Police have canceled an Amber Alert for a 1-year-old boy abducted by his father at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday in Akron. 

They said the boy had been recovered at 8:22 a.m.

Police say Darius Rashaad Heard, 27, is a non-custodial father who took Darius R. Heard Jr. by force. The father is a black male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 195 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black Nike jacket and gray shorts. 

The child is a black male, about 2 feet tall, weighs 34 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue Nautica Polo shirt and a diaper.

The vehicle involved is a silver Chevy Sonic. The car is believed to be a later model and possibly has Texas plates. There is an Enterprise rental sticker on the front windshield on the driver's side.

Call or dial 911 if you see the child, the suspect or the vehicle. You can also call 1-877-AMBER-OH (1-877-262-3764) or 911 to be transferred directly to the investigating law enforcement agency or to hear the alert information.
