Snappy Tomato franchises around the Tri-State are making sure their pizza serves a purpose.

Their director of marketing, Andy Rittner, was sent an article about an organization having a tough time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“He sent me an article about the Girl Scouts struggling – I sent it out to the franchise group,” Rittner said. “They could not wait to help.”

The group purchased 2,400 boxes of cookies, and at $4 a box, that’s a big deal to local scout troops with inventory that wasn’t moving.

Coronavirus took a bite out of cookie sales.

“Our girls were about two weeks from finishing the cookie sales program,” service unit cookie manager Shannon Natale said. “So they had to cut that short.”

That meant a lack of money for programs and projects. A cookie relief push to find partners in the sweet treat sales is making a difference.

“We’re just trying to pay it forward where we can,” Rittner said.

Each order of $25 or more worth of food before tax and tip, a free box of Girl Scout cookies is included.
