COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Monday's cold weather wasn't enough to stop volunteers from handing out more than 1,000 boxes of food with no questions asked to those in need.

Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio partnered with the Freestore Foodbank to keep up their Food for All event across the Tri-State. Monday, they were handing out boxes outside the administration building in Colerain Township.

April Hoak coordinates the event for Catholic Charities. She said reaching people has gotten easier over the past few months with help from neighborhood groups spreading the word and putting up flyers.

But Monday, on top of supporting an increasing number of families who show up hoping to take home a box of fresh groceries, they faced bitter cold.

Hoak said they were prepared.

"It's gonna be cold, but people are still calling me like, are you going to do this anyway, because they, they need it," she told WCPO early Monday morning. "We're gonna have warm drinks; we're gonna have hand warmers, feet warmers for them. The fire department allowed us to have a fire barrel to keep the volunteers warm."

She added that families driving through can stay in their cars and expect speedy lines.

"This distribution is really fast. You know, you get in line. We asked you how many families you're picking up for. We load those boxes in your car, and you're on your way, there's really not a whole lot of waiting."
