CINCINNATI -- Many in Cincinnati have experienced the frustration — or worse — that comes with the spotty 911 emergency service. I know I have: from trying to report violent situations to calling about near-fatal car accidents, I've often found myself calling 911 and not getting an answer.
The city has used a Cincinnati Bell subcontractor for years, but the poor service has taken its toll. Cincinnati is dumping the current subcontractor, Comtech, and is looking at bringing on a new service. Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld has even floated the idea of suing Comtech. Not having adequate 911 services is an emergency in itself.
