Back in my day, we just accepted that from November through March (and sometimes April) it was going to be cold. Just cold. Now we face a polar vortex that's descending on much of the continental United States, sending temperatures down into single digits or below. Of course, this extreme cold is bracketed by days ranging from the mid-40s to the upper 50s. And the way things are going, the next generation of kids might not even know what cold is.
