BROWN COUNTY, Ohio — A 39-year-old semi-truck driver has been charged after a crash Wednesday night in Brown County, according to a criminal complaint.
Manjit Singh has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony, after a crash involving a semi-truck occurred at 9 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 68.
According to the complaint, Singh was operating a "commercial motor vehicle" when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle in the southbound lane.
While passing that other vehicle, Singh's semi-truck struck a vehicle head-on in the southbound lane.
The crash resulted in the death of the woman driving the other vehicle involved, according to the complaint. That woman has not been identified at this time.
According to the complaint, a witness who passed Singh said that he was driving at an excessive speed. The witness also said that she could see the victim's vehicle's headlights and she approached, and that Singh had ample time and space to merge back into the northbound lane.
Singh is currently being held in the Brown County Jail.
The crash caused U.S. 68 to be shut down for several hours Wednesday night.
