HEBRON, Ky. -- Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is expanding its service at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport with five new destinations.

Inaugural flights to San Jose, California, Austin, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida depart Sunday. Flights to San Antonio, Texas and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina depart Monday.

Everyone onboard those inaugural flights will receive a small gift. There also will be a selfie station with props, so passengers can snap a celebratory photo as a memento.

Robin Lynn, flying to San Jose Sunday morning, said it's a more convenient choice.

"It is awesome, because usually I had to go to L.A. on a different airline... it was so much more complicated because of all the traffic," Lynn said.

Frontier has continued growing at CVG since service began in May 2013, now serving 20 destinations on a year-round or seasonal basis. Three million passengers have taken a Frontier flight out of Greater Cincinnati in the past five years.

Airport officials credit Frontier and other low-cost carriers with helping drive down prices, with customers paying about $250 less per ticket than they were a few years ago. CVG, which once ranked highest in the nation for average ticket price, now comes in at No. 83.
