The novel coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in different ways. For high school and college seniors, it means missing out on an important milestone in their lives — graduation.

With graduation ceremonies and parties canceled across the country, many are turning to virtual commencements, drive-by celebrations and yard signs and front door decorations.

Now, Krispy Kreme has come up with another way to celebrate graduates everywhere — special doughnuts, of course. Their new “Graduate Dozen” box includes a variety of fan-favorite doughnuts dressed up to honor the class of 2020, spelling out “2020” in three rows.

Flavors include chocolate iced creme-filled, chocolate iced with sprinkles, strawberry iced creme-filled, strawberry iced with sprinkles, cake batter and yellow iced original glazed. The limited-edition dozen will be available May 18-24 in participating shops across the U.S. via drive-thru and by ordering online or via Krispy Kreme’s app for door-side pickup or delivery.

As an extra special treat, on May 19, the Graduate Dozen will be free to any high school or college senior who visits a Krispy Kreme dressed in their graduation cap and gown or “Class of 2020” apparel (shirt, letterman jacket, etc.). There is no purchase necessary.

“We feel for all of the high school and college seniors. We wish they had that moment of walking across the stage and getting their diploma,” Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a press release. “Moms, dads, friends and family can buy this ‘Graduate Dozen’ all week long to honor their favorite graduates, but only seniors can get one for free.”

If you’re looking for more than some doughnuts to celebrate, Sam’s Club is rolling out smaller-sized graduation cakes for intimate, at-home celebrations.

A Sam’s Club representative says the personalized cakes are available in their bakeries in various sizes, ranging from a 10-inch single-layer cake or 15 cupcakes for $8.98 to a mini two-tier cake for $11.98.

Each cake can be personalized with the graduate’s school colors, a heartfelt message or even their photo. Because they’re specially made, the cakes are only available for order from your local Sam’s Club.

Do you know any graduates who have had to cancel their celebrations? Plying them with sweet treats might make them feel better, right?
