CINCINNATI — A trio of steamboats will race up the Ohio River next week for the first time since 2006.

The American Duchess, American Queen and Belle of Cincinnati will put their engines to the test July 15 at 3 p.m., racing from the Purple People Bridge to St. Rose’s Church to the Serpentine Wall at Yeatman’s Cove.

“People along the riverbank on both sides will have great views of both vessels,” according to Belle of Cincinnati Captain Alan Bernstein.

If you’d like an even closer look at the race, you can purchase a $30 ticket to ride the Belle of Cincinnati as she attempts to outpace the other steamboats. (It might be a tough match-up — the Duchess won the Great Steamboat Race at the Kentucky Derby Festival in 2018.) According to BB Riverboats, the company that owns the Belle, there will be a DJ, a cash bar and snacks on board.
