We love our heroes. Several pets were rescued on New Year’s Eve from a Cheviot house fire. Firefighters from Cheviot, Green Township, Miami Township and Delhi Township responded a house fire on Herbert Avenue in Cheviot on New Year’s Eve. After quickly extinguishing the fire, they were able to also save three of the families pets after administering oxygen. More on WCPO.com ^MEF

Today SORTA plans to make its recommendation to the city council transportation committee. But the recommendation for streetcar hours means riders would not be able to close bars and hop a ride to their apartments, hotels or parking garages. Ken Griffey Jr. says his superstitions have stopped him from ever stepping foot in the Baseball Hall of Fame. But that will change this summer. "The Cincinnati Kid" was named on 99.3 percent of the ballots - 437 of 440 - leaving three baseball writers to explain why they left him off. Tom Seaver held the record (98.84) since 1992. Griffey said he was "happy and shocked" by the overwhelmlng support. Congrats, Ken Griffey Jr.! ^MEF
