'Star Wars and the Power of Costume'

See costumes from a galaxy far, far away this weekend at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The Smithsonian Museum's “Star Wars and the Power of Costume” traveling exhibit will open at 10 a.m. Thursday. The exhibit, which runs through Oct. 1, showcases more than 60 hand-crafted costumes featured in all seven "Star Wars" films.

Opens at 10 a.m. Thursday. Regular hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave., Queensgate. Admission prices vary. www.cincymuseum.org

Art After Dark: Cin City

Party like it’s 1899 this Friday during the Cincinnati Art Museum’s May Art After Dark event. This month the museum is celebrating the “naughty '90s” in the Queen City with cocktails, live music from the Hot Magnolias, dance performances from Pones, a live screening of “The Strawberry Blonde” and a lecture from local blogger Greg Hand. Cocktails and food by the Chili Hut, Graeter's Ice Cream and the Terrace Cafe will be available for purchase. Museum admission and parking are free.

Braxton Labs grand opening

Braxton Brewing Co. will celebrate the opening of its second facility, Braxton Labs,this Friday with new beers, a guest tap lineup, live music from the Kentucky Struts and food from Cheese N Chong. Braxton Labs, located inside the Party Source, will have 40 taps and allow the Covington-based brewery to make funkier beers outside of its regular taproom lineup.

Taste of Cincinnati

Now in its 39th year, the Taste of Cincinnati returns to Downtown bigger and better than ever with 14 new food vendors and a new Taste of Findlay Market area. Organizers moved the venue for this year’s Taste east on Fifth Street to accommodate the streetcar. Make sure to check out our guide to the festival!

Coney Island opening day

The region’s oldest operating amusement park and pool kicks off its 2017 season on Saturday. Regular visitors to Coney Island will find upgraded and new features at the pool portion of the park. Sunlite Pool has been renamed Sunlite Water Adventure and will have a new Tiki-themed bar and bathhouse. The rest of the park has received a fresh coat of paint and new branding, too.

Cincy Powerfest V

Rock out this Saturday when Cincy Powerfest returns to Urban Artifact. Now in its fifth year, Powerfest celebrates everything heavy metal with a lineup of bands that will leave your bones vibrating. The lineup includes AUTOMATON, Stagecoach Inferno, Dethlehem, Lucis Absentia, Kingslayer, Others by No One and Split the Abyss. Mountain's BBQ food truck will be on-site, and there also will be a raffle benefiting Over-the-Rhine Community Housing.

Erlanger Lions Carnival

What better way to kick off the unofficial start of summer than with a neighborhood festival? The Erlanger Lions are once again hosting their carnival this Memorial Day weekend. There will be rides, food, drinks and fun.

Funk Day 2017

Since you probably have Monday off, why not enjoy a funky Sunday at MadTree Brewing? MadTree will release a new round of bottles from its Funk series of barrel-aged sour and other beers. The series will include the Levanto Oscuro American brown ale, a sour cherry stout and Out of the Woods, a Belgian blonde, for purchase.
