NEWPORT, Ky. -- Redondo Taqueria has closed at Newport on the Levee so its neighbor Axis Alley can expand, according to Trifecta Management Group.

”It's a good, positive move," said Adam Kleinhenz, vice president of regional operations for Trifecta Management Group, which manages both Redondo and Axis. "We have found that Axis Alley event sales have done very well for us. This allows us to open the space up for more group and themed events."

Redondo opened at the Levee in late 2014, at the same that Axis replaced the former Star Lanes at its current location.

Redondo closed for good at the end of February, Kleinhenz said.

It will take four to six weeks to convert the former restaurant into an event space that will connect to Axis Alley, he said. The company also is installing projectors and other technology that will allow groups to make PowerPoint and other presentations in the space.

The new space will hold up to 100 people, depending on the type of event, Kleinhenz said.

"In warmer weather, the patio adds space for about 50 to 75 more people," he said.

Kleinhenz added guests will be able to float back and forth between the expansion and the bowling alley during regular business hours and private events.

"They can branch off and have breakfast and lunch there," he said. "The Levee is excited, and we are even more excited."

Kleinhenz said more information about reservations and the expansion will be made public in coming weeks.
