CINCINNATI -- You should check out these cities if you love design: Mexico City. Washington D.C. Shenzhen, China.

Cincinnati?

Of course, says Architectural Digest: The Queen City is among the top five design travel destinations next month.

The inaugural BLINK Cincinnati, a successor to Lumenocity, is a big part of the draw: The festival, scheduled Oct. 12-15, "is expected to be one of the country’s largest light, art, and projection mapping events," spanning about 20 city blocks.

"Though often overlooked, the Queen City has plenty to offer art and architecture lovers in need of a weekend getaway," Architectural Digest says.

Notable spots include the 21c Museum Hotel and the Contemporary Arts Center by Zaha Hadid -- the first woman to design an art museum in the United States.

The only other U.S. destination to make the list, besides Washington, was the Hudson Valley in New York.
