CINCINNATI -- The Famous Neons Unplugged will serve its final drink at its current location on Dec. 17.

Wellmann Brands, the hospitality group that owns the Over-the-Rhine bar, announced the closure Tuesday via a press release.

"The current lease at Neons runs through December 31st, with service running through December 17th at the 208 E. 12th Street location," the release stated. "Neons has been actively looking since 2013 for a new space that will satisfy the shortcomings of its existing location, including more seating inside, a larger outdoor area, a kitchen space, and better access to parking."

The release went on to state the owners are searching for a new location for the bar and expect "to have a new, expanded Neons open in the coming year."

Wellmann Brands has operated Neons at its current location for nearly seven years. The bar expanded food services, such as a Sunday brunch, this past summer after Wellmann Brands acquired Northside restaurant Melt Eclectic Cafe.

Melt's acquisition also introduced food options to Wellmann Brands' other bars, which include Myrtle's Punch House in East Walnut Hills, and Japp's Since 1879 on Main Street in Over-the-Rhine.

Wellmann Brands also took over Bottle & Basket in Over-the-Rhine this year as well.
