LOS ANGELES (AP) — Attorneys for real estate heir Robert Durst have asked a Los Angeles judge to declare a mistrial in the murder case against him that was put on hold mid-trial because of coronavirus closures.

Durst's team filed a motion Thursday saying the pause in the trial that will last months even in the best case scenario makes it impossible for the jury to do its job.

The trial, expected to last five months, was put on hold after just six days in mid-March.

Prosecutors had no comment. Durst has denied the charge that he killed his friend Susan Berman in 2000.
