CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. -- A major at the Campbell County Detention Center died in a head-on crash in Tennessee on Sunday, according to Campbell County officials.

Maj. Gracy Nagel died in a crash in Henderson County, Tennessee, as she and her family were coming home from vacation, officials said.

Nagel’s husband and son were injured but are expected to be OK. Her daughter was not injured.

Nagel had been working for Campbell County for over two decades; she started working for the detention center in 1997.

Officials said Nagel had “infinite knowledge” of the detention center and that she will be impossible to replace.

“More importantly, Gracy served as a confidant, a friend and a go to person for all,” officials said on Facebook. “Gracy will be missed for each of these things but most importantly for her smile and the love and care she had and gave to her family and to each of her Campbell County family.”
