ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Student actors at Anderson High School got a surprise message straight from Broadway after a long rehearsal Saturday night.

Through a Tri-State connection at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York City, professional performers of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s theatrical classic “Cats” recorded personal messages to their counterparts playing the same roles in Anderson Township.

The high school students were blown away when their director surprised them with the YouTube video just days before the show opens at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The professional version of Cats was choreographed by St. Xavier High School alumnus Andy Blankenbuehler, who took home a Tony Award in June 2016 for his choreography work in the Broadway sensation “Hamilton.”
