UNION TWP. (CLERMONT COUNTY), Ohio -- The locally owned Esquire Theatre group entered new territory Nov. 20 with the opening of its fourth cinema, the Eastgate Brew & View at 4450 Eastgate Blvd.

“It’s a huge deal,” said Dawn Thaman, an Esquire representative. “We’ve only done movies in the past. Now we’ve created a restaurant component, and that has been a very challenging reward.”

The Brew & View offers movie-goers full food service, more than 30 craft beers on tap and a wide array of mixed drinks delivered to patrons' seats in any of its eight auditoriums. The theater group's other movie houses include the Esquire Theatre in Clifton, the Kenwood Theater and the Mariemont Theatre.

The menu at the Brew & View includes chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, poutine, a meatloaf sandwich, mac and cheese, and desserts such as opera cream cake, all created under chef Quenten Brogden Sr.

“It took us about six months to come up with the menu,” Brogden said. “We’ve got comfort food, rustic hand-helds and flavorful dishes.”

Patrons are asked to arrive at the Brew & View 30 minutes before showtime so Brogden’s staff can prepare their meals before their movie begins, Thaman said. Those late to the show have the option of ordering food and drinks from their seats at any time by filling out a menu card and placing it in front of their seat for a server to collect. Bills are delivered to visitors about 20 minutes before their movie ends, Thaman said.

Popcorn and other traditional concessions are available, too. The Brew & View also offers visitors a chance to fill a growler with their favorite beer to take home, and the bar is open to anyone who wants to simply come in and have a drink.

Movie-goers can buy and reserve seating online for the Brew & View at egbrewview.com. Thaman said there is a good chance people wanting to see the sold-out early premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on Dec. 17 will be able to do so at the Brew & View. As of Monday, she was awaiting confirmation from the film’s distributors before reserve seats for the theater go on sale later this week.
