COVINGTON, Ky. --  A Kenton County judge sentenced a man to 20 years in prison, the maximum sentence, for selling drugs to a confidential informant, officials announced Friday.

Donte Little, 33, was found guilty in December of multiple counts of trafficking in a controlled substance for selling heroin to an informant five times in 2014, totaling $2,300 in sales.

Jurors recommended a 38-year sentence for Little, which Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders said was "proof Kenton County residents are sick of heroin and will show no mercy to those making money dealing overdose deaths in our community."

However, Kentucky law limits the maximum total sentence for felonies of the type Little was convicted to 20 years.
