The news that Facebook is finally developing a "dislike" button (or something similar), is thrilling a lot of users of the site, who can't wait to try it.
"I like the idea, because I don't like everything on Facebook," one man told us. "I would love it, because I really dislike a lot of stuff on Facebook," one woman said.
Downtown worker Amanda Woolridge says there's a real need for some sort of an empathy button.
"A lot of times you'll find something real sad happened, like 'my cat died' or 'my grandmother died,' and they can't say they 'liked' that someone died, but they want to give their support," she said.
But as much as you may dislike a Facebook page or posting, don't try to download a dislike button, at least not yet.
That's because scammers are preying on the fact that most of us would love the opportunity to be among the first to use it.
Beware Online Surveys
According to the myth busting site Snopes.com, con artists are posting surveys on social media, saying if you take the survey, you'll get early access to the dislike button.
But security experts tell Snopes that by clicking the download link, the criminals then install malware on your computer and steal your private data.
It's enough to make some users decide it's too confusing right now.
"I don't think I'd like a Facebook dislike button....just a like sounds good enough to me for now," one woman said.
Facebook CEO Mark Zcukerberg has not revealed many details about the "dislike" or "empathy" button.
But it won't be a download, and it won't ask you to take a survey. That way you stay safe, and you don't waste your money.
