CINCINNATI -- Month-long lane restrictions begin Tuesday on a pair of Northside roads for sewer-related work, according to the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati.

The work impacts Virginia Avenue from Washburn Street to north of Bruce Avenue, and Kirby Avenue north of Ashtree Drive.

According to MSD, drivers and residents should expect traffic to be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday with occasional work on Fridays and on the weekends. Flaggers will assist with directing traffic.

According to a traffic alert, access to businesses and homes in the area will be maintained but drivers and residents should plan for delays. All lanes will be open for the morning and evening rush hours.

The West Fork watershed

The work by MSD includes the relocation of a water main. It’s part of MSD’s West Fork Project to reduce sewer overflow into the West Fork Creek, according to MSD. MSD will install storm sewers along Virginia and Kirby avenues, and construct two stormwater detention basins.

All work is weather permitting. The lane restrictions are expected to last about one month.
