FLORENCE, Ky. -- Video of a fight between teens at the Florence Mall Thursday night quickly spread across social media.
Twitter user NSudenga posted a short video and by Friday afternoon, the video had been retweeted almost 600 times. It was also picked up by a variety of national news outlets.

But the fight didn't have anything to do with Black Friday, the victim told WCPO's Rose-Ann Aragon.
"I was just minding my own business and then someone came up behind me with brass knuckles and hit me in the back of the head," the teen said.
He said that happened before the camera was turned on. He said he didn't know his attackers and he fought back in self-defense.
"I seen them coming at me so my first thought was, 'All right, hit them back,'" he said. "It wasn't like me and my friend started it in the mall because I don't condone that. I don't just come looking for problems."
The teen who shot the video said he just happened to be there.
"It was crazy. People were just so in shock they didn't know what to do," he said. "I was actually people watching. It was quite something to see."
The victim said he posts rap videos on YouTube and has built a following in the community. He said the teens who jumped him might have targeted him because of that.
"It's not about Jordans or anything that really happened on Black Friday. It was all about hate," he said.
A woman claiming to be the victim's aunt said he was assaulted in an attempt to make him "look bad" on social media.
Police have not confirmed those details. Meanwhile, the family said they are unhappy with the way the police are handling the investigation and are considering hiring a lawyer.
Florence police said no one was charged because officers didn’t witness the fight and no witnesses came forward. No one apparently required medical attention.
There have been no other reports of violence at Tri-State stores and malls.
