Anderson QB Jay Volpenhein accounted for seven of the Redskins’ nine touchdowns in a 61-21 rout of McNicholas Friday night.

Volpenhein ran for four TDs and 128 yards. He added three TD passes and 314 yards with 27 completions in 41 attempts.

McNicholas QB Cameron Haynes finished 27 of 47 for 364 yards and one TD to pace the Rockets.

The game was close for a little while. Anderson’s Kyle Blaha opened the scoring with a 1-yard run, but McNicholas’ Jake Campbell returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards to tie it.

Blaha found the end zone again four minutes later, and Volpenhein followed with a 7-yard TD run late in the first quarter, and the Redskins would never relinquish the lead.

The Redskins piled up 611 yards while the Rockets tallied 442 – a total of 1,053.

Anderson, which has scored 103 points in its two wins, will host Harrison next week while winless McNicholas will travel to Wyoming.
