ERLANGER, Ky. -- Adam Fleckinger, 31, of the 3400 block of Queensway Drive turned himself in Wednesday night, admitting to striking a 12-year-old girl around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday and fleeing the scene.

Fleckinger has been charged with a hit-and-run/leaving the scene of an accident and an expired operators license.

He struck a 12-year-old girl at her bus stop at the 3400 block of Queensway Drive at around 6:50 a.m. according to Tom Scheben, spokesman for the Boone County Sheriff's Office. The preteen was struck from behind and knocked to the ground, but did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

The girl was walking on the outer edge of the road with a friend, Scheben said, because there is no sidewalk.

Reports say Fleckinger accelerated toward Donaldson Road leaving the scene after striking the girl.
