COVINGTON, Ky. -- The family of a 17-year-old Ludlow teen killed riding his motorized scooter says they will always remember his big heart.

Logan Pence

They say Logan Pence had so much life ahead of him.

"He was about to graduate this year. He had everything set, wanted to become a welder. He had goals in life," said Elvis Iles, Logan's cousin and best friend.

They hung out countless hours and walked home together each day from Ludlow High.

"He was always pushing me in school, telling me, ‘We can do this,’” Iles said. “We have rough families, but we came to school and showed what we can do.”

Logan would do anything to help his friends, Iles said.

"He just tried to do good, you know, in everybody's eyes,” said Logan's aunt, Mae Iles.

Logan was on his way to visit friends and family Monday night when his scooter crashed with a car on Madison Avenue near 25th.

Aunt Mae hopes no one else will feel what she does.

"People need to wear helmets," she said.

Police say the other driver involved in that crash is cooperating.

The crash remains under investigation.
