CINCINNATI -- A man is dead and another stands charged with murder after a shooting in Fairfax Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Robert Simms, 33, was shot three times while he was working on the roof of a house on Whetsel Avenue with 55-year-old Jeffrey Eckstein. Police said Eckstein shot him after a confrontation.

A 911 caller who said her son witnessed the shooting told dispatch that the two men had argued before the shots were fired. After, she said, Eckstein drove away. She told 911 that Simms was alive for a short time following the shooting.

Eckstein was arrested later in the day, police said.
