Elementary school in the West End getting a makeover from two local businesses

Students from Hays-Porter Elementary will be welcomed back to school in the fall with a new look and feel to their school. Dozens of volunteers from Appreciation Financial and Great American Insurance Group will gather on Tuesday, June 6 to revitalize the deserving school, located in one of Cincinnati's most historical and poverty-stricken areas. Appreciation Financial worked closely with Cincinnati Public Schools, who suggested the in-need school. The school serves more than 410 young students in preschool through sixth grade and contains a high concentration of economically disadvantaged students, which is why it was chosen as the beautification site. Volunteers will add a coat of colorful paint to the school's hallways, door frames and stairwells. The highlight of this project will be the addition of a vibrant tech-themed mural leading to the school's technology center and welcome message located near the front of the school. If weather permits, outdoor play areas will be repainted and the school yard be brought to life with landscaping and general clean up. Hays-Porter focuses on teaching children the importance of community service, which is in alignment with the local office of national financial planning powerhouse, Appreciation Financial, who is funding and spearheading the project.
