CINCINNATI -- A 17-year-old was responsible for the shooting near the Riverfest fireworks Sept. 4, police said.

Police arrested the teen, who they did not identify, at his Mount Healthy home Wednesday. Officers recovered a firearm while making the arrest.

Police said they identified the teen using a cellphone video shot by a bystander and footage from security cameras in the area. He was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

The shooting occurred at about 9:40 p.m. near Broadway and Mehring Way. The victim, who was also a teen, had been in an altercation with the shooter beforehand, according to police.

The victim was hit in the shoulder and treated at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Cincinnati Police Department officials also said in a news release that people who "conduct themselves outside of community norms at public events will be held accountable for their actions."

The investigation is ongoing. Police asked anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
