CINCINNATI  -  SORTA's recommendation for streetcar hours means riders would not be able to close bars and hop a ride to their apartments, hotels or parking garages.

That's because the streetcar would shut down before the bars do.

But the streetcar would be running just about any other time people are on the streets Downtown or at The Banks or in Over-the-Rhine.

SORTA plans to make its recommendation to the city council transportation committee Tuesday, the group All-Aboard Ohio posted on Twitter Monday night. AAO says it backs the plan.

The recommendation calls for the streetcar to:

> Stop at 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, midnight Monday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Sunday.

> Start at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

> Run every 12 minutes during peak operating hours (11-7 Monday through Friday) and every 15 minutes at base times.

The streetcar is well on its way to its scheduled opening in September. Last October, the tracks were completed and the first car arrived. In November, the second car arrived and testing began.

The route, a 3.6-mile loop, connects OTR, Downtown and The Banks.
