DAYTON, Ky. -- A national organization donated a heat alarm system to Dayton Police Department’s K-9, Tesa.

Hero K9, an organization dedicated to the safety of K-9 units, gave the Dayton Police Department a door pop and heat alarm system to help protect Tesa from overheating. The equipment is valued at $1,500.

Tesa is a 3.5-year-old Belgian Malinois certified in patrol and narcotics search. She and her partner, Sgt. Marksberry have been deployed over 100 times and have recovered meth, heroin, marijuana, and other controlled substances like opiates.

Dayton police say Tesa is very social, and she eats every meal like it’s her last.

Sgt. Marksberry said he enjoys Tesa’s personality and how she interacts with the community in a positive way.

The heat alarm system, provided by AceK9.com, will be shipped directly to the police department.
