HEBRON, Ky. -- A 19-year-old driver was killed when he lost control of a speeding Corvette Monday afternoon, according to Boone County deputies.

Austin Jack, 19, of Hebron, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette eastbound in the 7500 block of River Road when he lost control and went off the right side of the road, deputies said in a news release. Jack overcorrected, causing the car to slide sideways and go off the left side of the road, where it struck two trees.

Jack was pronounced dead at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

A passenger in the car, 21-year-old Adrian Echeveste of Burlington, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, according to deputies. He was being treated at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Deputies said that speed contributed to the crash. It was still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit.
