BATESVILLE, Ind. -- A trucker hauling frozen meat stopped a suspect cold in his tracks Wednesday morning, sheriff's officials said.

Joel Schumacer, of Hanska, Minnesota, called Ripley County dispatchers at about 4:18 a.m. from a rest area along Interstate 74. He told them someone was in the back of his semitrailer.

Officers found Malcolm Denton, 51, of Shelbyville, Indiana, locked inside, according to the Ripley County Sheriff's Office.

Denton was pounding on the door for someone to let him out. The trailer's temperature: -10 degrees.

Denton is at the Ripley County Jail, charged with unauthorized entry of a vehicle and theft.
