CINCINNATI – Lacey Roberts says nothing unusual happens at Oakley Meadows Apartments, but that changed Thursday morning.

Residents tracking a foul smell discovered a man's body in a parked car. The black Dodge Magnum had been sitting there - in the 5000 block of Madison Road in Madisonville -  for a week or longer, a resident said.

Police proceeded to shut down the neighborhood as the Homicide Unit investigated.

"I was going to school today and there was caution tape everywhere and they told us to stay back and no one could leave," Roberts said.

Residents originally thought the smell was coming from the dumpster.

"Yesterday when the sun was out, really hot during the day, you could notice that there were a whole bunch of flies - an abnormal amount – near the car," Roberts said.

Detectives said the man did not die of an overdose and he did not live in those apartments. Police withheld the man's name until they could notify relatives.

"It's kind of scary," Roberts said. "I just hope they figure out what happened."
