CINCINNATI -- Gunfire in the Winton Hills neighborhood left two men in critical condition Tuesday.

The shooting happened at about 1:18 p.m. in a parking lot near Dutch Colony Drive and Strand Lane, Lt. Steve Saunders said.

Ricky Ross said his daughters and grandchildren were outside playing. There was no warning before bullets started flying, he said.

"I don’t understand why people feel they can get away with this stuff. The police, they be around here doing they job, but it's up to us to start stepping up and start telling all people and what's going on," Ross said.

Paramedics took one victim to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Someone drove the other man to Good Samaritan Hospital, and he was transferred to UC.

Cincinnati police have not released any information about a suspect or motive.
