CINCINNATI – What better way to kick off summer in the Queen City than with local craft beer and ice cream?
United Dairy Farmers plans to do just that when it starts selling Tropical Truth, a collaborative beer-flavored ice cream made using Rhinegeist Truth IPA, at its Cincinnati-area stores on Memorial Day, according to a joint news release from both companies.
“Our stomachs are growling in anticipation of this fruit-forward, IPA-infused ice cream,” said Rhinegeist co-founder Bryant Goulding in the release. “This collaboration took quite an effort to perfect, but Tropical Truth turned out as a beautifully unexpected yet inspiringly delicious summer treat.”
Tropical Truth is described as a blend of grapefruit, mango and citrus hop flavors balanced with UDF’s sweet, creamy ice cream. It took almost two years to create the ice cream, according to the release.
“This has been one of the most exciting projects that we have worked on yet,” said Will Lindner, UDF assistant brand manager. “Not only to partner with a great local company like Rhinegeist but to create something truly unique was an absolute blast.”
Rhinegeist also will hold an ice cream social at its brewery, located at 1910 Elm St. in Over-the-Rhine, on June 1. There will be beer floats and other treats for sale during the event.
